Book Club Meets at the Conant Public Library
The Conant Public Library’s book club meets the 3rd Thursday of each month. The next meeting will take place on May 17th at 6:30p.m. in the Baker room. The club will discuss “Sister” by Rosamund Lupton. Books are available at the circulation desk. New members are welcome – no registration is required.
Blood Drive at Eight Point Sportsman’s Club
The American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held in Sterling on Tuesday, May 29th from 1:00 to 6:00p.m. at the Eight Point Sportsman, 147 Beaman Rd. Sterling. Presentation on new trends in gardening
The Sterling Garden Club will meet on March 15th in room 2 at the First Church in Sterling. The Sterling Play Area Recreation (sub) Committee will have its first Snow Ball Family Dance & Fundraiser on January 28, 2012 from 5:30p.m. until 8:30p.m. at the First Church in Sterling. Babysitting will help with holiday shopping
Babysitting services will be offered on December 17th from 10:00a.m. until 1:00p.m. Services will be provided by the Sterling Girl Scout Cadet Troop “Little Elf’s Babysitting” for children ages 3 to 9. Parents must pre-register at the Recreation Department office by December 14th. There will be fun activities for the children under the supervision of several adults. Please be sure your child brings a snack and lunch with them. You may drop your child off at The 835 Town Hall. The cost is $10.00 per child.
Blue Christmas Liturgy at St. Richard’s
A Blue Christmas Liturgy of Solace on the Longest Night will be held at St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street in Sterling on Wednesday, 12/21 beginning at 7:00p.m. All are welcome.

Summer concerts from Sterling Recreation
The Sterling Recreation Department will kick off the season of summer band concerts on Wednesday, July 6. Concerts will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in Memorial Park, which is located off of Cross Street, behind the Sterling Fire Station.
The bands include Illusions on Wednesday, July 6; The Blue Flames on Monday, July 11; Lori Diamond on Wednesday, July 13, the Black Sheep Jazz Band on Monday, July 18; Jump-in-Juba on Wednesday, July 20; the Worcester County Bluegrass All Stars on Monday, July 25; Rampage Trio on Wednesday, July 27; Nowheremen on Monday, August 1; Backfire on Wednesday, August 3; Ordinary Heart on Monday, August 8; The Stacys on Monday, August 15; Wachusett Community Band on Monday, August 22; and The Blue Flames on Monday, August 29.
Children’s Story Hours
The Conant Public Library will begin a six-week session of story hours beginning the week of May 9. The program is designed to highlight new and classic children’s literature to ready children for kindergarten. 
Story hour is an opportunity to become familiar with the services available through the Sterling library. Participants meet other families within the community and future classmates. Registration for story hour is required by calling 978-422-6409. Registration will begin Monday, April 25 at 10 a.m.

Sterling Farmers’ Market opens May 27
The Sterling Farmers’ Market will open for the season at the Butterick Municipal Building, Park Street, Sterling, on Friday, May 27, from 3 to 6:30 p.m., and will continue through the end of October.
The market will offer locally grown vegetables, herbs, fruit, berries, and flowers. There will also be many flavors of local goat cheese, homemade breads and other baked goods, potted plants, unique handcrafted items, and organically formulated soaps and lotions.

Sterling Fair in September
The Sterling Fair will be held September 9 through 11 at the Sterling Airport, 121 Greenland Road, Sterling, MA. The hours are from 5 to 11 p.m. on Friday, September 9 and the fireworks will take place at 9:45 pm. The Chockset Club will provide a pancake breakfast at 8 am on both Saturday and Sunday. The Fair will open on Saturday, September 10 from 9 am to 11 pm, and Sunday, September 11 from 9 am to 5 pm.
The fair will feature pony rides,, a petting zoo, entertainment, an exhibit hall, a farmers’ market, a food court, games for kids, carnival rides, horse and oxen pulls, a tractor pull, and animal judging.
Admission is free on Wednesday. On Thursday through Sunday, admission is $10 for adults, $6 for seniors, $5 for military personnel and children ages 7 to 12, and free for ages 6 and under.
